PDP Demands Transparency on Benue State Funds

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Benue State chapter has called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to address the revelation by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that the state receives up to ₦30 billion monthly from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
The PDP has also requested a detailed account of the funds received by the Alia administration over the past three and a half years and how they were utilized.
The opposition accused the Alia administration of not providing a clear public explanation of the financial disclosure, emphasizing that the people of Benue deserve to know how the funds have been managed.
In a statement from Makurdi, PDP State Publicity Secretary, Bright Antyo, questioned the governor’s silence, asking whether he disputes Wike’s figures or accepts them without explaining the administration’s financial records.
Antyo further asked why Governor Alia, since taking office on May 29, 2023, has not provided a comprehensive public briefing on the state’s revenue, expenditure, projects executed, and results achieved under his administration.
