Presidency Dismisses Makinde’s NLNG Dividend Claim

The Presidency has refuted claims by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde that the Federal Government was withholding ₦250 billion per state dividend from Nigeria LNG. The statement was issued by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga described Makinde's claim as false and advised it should be disregarded. The governor had previously stated that the funds would not be released until after the 2027 elections, according to Onanuga.

Makinde's remarks were made during the 2027 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Engagement held at the University of Ibadan. Onanuga quoted Makinde, who claimed each state was supposed to receive ₦250 billion.
