Aluko Aims to Spread Netball Beyond South, Focus on North

Dr Oluwatoyin Esther Aluko, President of the Nigeria Netball Federation, has outlined plans to expand netball's reach across the country. The federation aims to increase grassroots participation, school competitions, and develop a national league as key priorities.

Aluko explained that the federation is working to create more opportunities for young people to discover and participate in netball. She emphasized the need for a stronger structure to support the sport's development in Nigeria.

The federation is engaging state governments to encourage wider participation, particularly across the six geopolitical zones. Aluko noted that netball has grown faster in the south-west, south-east, and south-south, but the northern region still requires more attention.
