Presidency Calls for Private Sector Input on State Police Funding

The Presidency has urged Nigeria’s private sector to contribute to the development of a financing and implementation plan for the state police system. This initiative aims to ensure that businesses play an active role in creating security institutions that safeguard investments and enhance economic resilience.
Femi Gbajabiamila, who made the call, directed the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, and other business associations to submit practical proposals for financing, institutional management, and accountable partnerships to support the decentralisation of policing.
The challenge also includes bringing forward a considered private sector contribution on financing and implementing state police, with practical proposals for accountable partnerships. This work is to be integrated into the legislative process and state government engagements.
