Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote is the founder and president of Dangote Group, with responsibility as its chief executive. His business career began in 1978 with trading in rice, sugar and cement before expanding into manufacturing. That progression from commodity trading to industrial production forms the central thread of his business career. He studied at Al-Azhar University in Cairo and has received honorary doctorates from institutions including Coventry University and the University of Ibadan.
His work also extends to international business and development organisations. In September 2016, the US Chamber of Commerce named him co-chair of its US-Africa Business Center. He joined the board of the Clinton Health Access Initiative in April 2017. These appointments sit alongside his leadership of the manufacturing group and connect his career with both commercial investment and the development of health services.
