MTN Clarifies Data Depletion Reasons

MTN has outlined the primary reasons behind rapid data consumption, attributing it to user activities and background processes on smartphones. The telecom provider stated that data usage is influenced by video streaming, auto-downloads, cloud backups, and background apps.

MTN denied allegations of data theft, asserting that data bundles decrease based on user behavior and smartphone processes. The company emphasized that differences in data usage measurements between smartphones and network records can range from 2% to 12%.

To help users conserve data, MTN and Xiaomi recommended disabling auto-downloads, restricting app updates to Wi-Fi, lowering video quality, and utilizing data-saving features. These steps aim to extend the lifespan of internet bundles.
