Saka Honored for Humanitarian Work at 2026 Socrates Award

Bukayo Saka was honored with the 2026 Sócrates Award for his humanitarian efforts, including support for children requiring medical care. The award was presented by Burna Boy, who shared his vision for a Nigerian football academy during the event.

Saka's recognition was tied to his charitable work with BigShoe, an initiative that provides assistance to children in need. He also shared a personal story about a 14-year-old Rwandan boy whose eyesight improved through treatment facilitated by the organization.

Burna Boy expressed his dream of seeing a footballer from his Nigerian academy win a Ballon d’Or, a sentiment he conveyed while presenting Saka with the award in London.
