Singapore to Amend Haze Law for Better Enforcement

Singapore plans to introduce amendments to its Transboundary Haze Pollution Act during the upcoming parliamentary session. The proposed changes aim to enhance the law's effectiveness by requiring companies associated with haze incidents to grant investigators full access to their information and facilities.
The current Transboundary Haze Pollution Act does not empower the National Environment Agency to request firms to appoint investigators to examine their operations or supply chains. This limitation will be addressed under the proposed amendments, which will grant the NEA the authority to conduct such investigations.
Senior Counsel Davinder Singh, representing a law firm, will assist the government in managing the panel of experts tasked with addressing the transboundary haze issue.
