WFP to Cut Aid to 500,000 in Gaza Due to Funding Shortfall

The World Food Programme (WFP) announced it will halt monthly aid to 500,000 individuals in Gaza due to insufficient funding. This decision comes amid ongoing challenges in the region, where the UN agency has been providing critical support.
Despite the cutbacks, 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza will still receive either food or cash assistance each month, though in reduced quantities. The WFP emphasized that its efforts have helped prevent a famine last year, but conditions have not improved enough to justify ending aid.
A Palestinian man was seen carrying a food ration box provided by the WFP at a distribution center in Al-Zawayda, highlighting the ongoing reliance on aid for basic needs in the area.
